Professor Chen invites you to think about the importance of writing as both a major component of the core curriculum and a skill essential to your success in college. Why are there not required courses on speaking or listening or reading? What kind of writing are we learning or practicing in college? And how to do it well? You are expected to share your thoughts and experiences with writing in college. Open to students only.
Social Work and Philanthropy Practice in China: Effectiveness and Development
Professor Jin's research and practice focus on promoting the effectiveness of social work and philanthropy practice. Since he joined NYU Shanghai in 2015, he has worked with many non-profit agencies on evaluating program effectiveness, and further improving program design and/or execution based on program evaluation. Through the work, he has well connected with a lot of practitioners and better understood the circumstances of social work/philanthropy in China. Look forward to discussing with you who are interested in social work or philanthropy. Open to students only.

Found chronicles the story of three teenage Chinese-American adoptees who find out through DNA testing that they are cousins. Together Chloe, Lily, and Sadie embark on a return trip to China to discover their origins. This documentary sheds light on the indelible mark that Chinese adoption has left on adoptees, their biological and adoptive families, and Chinese society writ large. Join us for a screening of the documentary, followed by a Q&A session with Director and Producer, Amanda Lipitz (NYU alum), as well as a panel with adoptees from the NYU Shanghai community.

Save the date, and come celebrate research accomplished by undergraduate students spanning Arts and Sciences, Business, and Computer Science, Data Science, and Engineering! Students will showcase their research through oral presentations, followed by a Q&A session. All NYU Shanghai community members are welcome to explore the projects, engage with the presenters, and vote for their favorite project(s)!
